Ibarracolor
I consider myself a person who creates Visual interactions, I grew up in the streets of Caracas where urban interventions of contemporary art abound, which took over me, so I fell in love with that movement of taking art directly to people rather than people go to the art, my training is purely self-taught and has no limitations beyond the pure pleasure of creating and sharing my pieces, I have no intention of recognition from artistic entities I just want to reach the average person, I want to touch the doors in those that art does not exist in their lives.
StarvingHues
Hello and welcome to my head! I am Jade Hughes, StarvingHues, and I am a self-taught “artist”. I wouldn’t label myself as one because it’s not my profession but I enjoy creating it to visually please and inspire those who are afraid of giving it a chance.
My choice and “love-hate” in media is acrylic because it blends and dries faster. I would say that my love in creating is detailing. I try my best to be precise or close enough.
Born and raised in Houston, TX, I’ve always noticed the cities colorful side and was always amazed that individuals can display themselves for the city to see. So now I have the chance to do so.
Shy overall, I use art to express myself and it let’s other feeling welcome to question me which I don’t mind a little curiosity.
There’s always something to draw which is a blessing and a curse of itself. I say this because there isn’t a lot of time to just sit and let your pencil follow the lines to everything and it’s wonderful by just having so much to see and practice to become better.
I don’t like it when people would become envious of what I can do. It gets under my skin because it’s all about practice. If you don’t push yourself to your potential, you’ll always stay on the same loop forever.
I look forward to opening eyes and mouths for others to just question what I do and where my mind is set. I would label myself versatile because I’m willing to adapt myself in any media and always look forward from learning from others.

He is a recipient of the Houston Arts Alliance 2015 Individual Artist Grant for his short form documentary, “BY HAND — the Vintage Hand Painted Sign Artists of 3rd Ward”. As an independent filmmaker Newsome has worked on and produced independent video projects for over fifteen years.

His photography style can be described as documental cinematic in that each of his shots appear as a scene from a movie yet they are in fact not staged and true to actual form. He enjoys taking images of structures characteristic of an area but without people around and on rainy nights so that the structure has its own personality and resonated spotlight from the reflective pavement below.
Israel McCloud
Fourth generation Houston sign painter from Third Ward.
Jason “JDUB” Williams
My name is Jason Williams, I also go by a moniker I have acquired over the years, ‘JDUB’. I am a Houston based artist and graphic designer. I have been a creative freelancer for 3 years now. My style is an incorporation of different art techniques in a layer based format. These styles and techniques could be considered Contemporary Abstract, Pop Art, and Surrealism. I portray conflicting ideas not only with imagery and style, but with strong, contrasting, vibrant colors and textures. The subject matter of my paintings derives from an extremely personal place and I think this gives me an edge within my work. Being from the United Kingdom and moving to the Houston area at a very impressionable age, I feel that I have acquired a unique perspective of this amazing city. Dealing with that culture shock and adapting to the lifestyle of my new home was probably the most influential reasons of why I wanted to pursue my career as an artist. When I was unsure, I would paint, When I was lonely, I would paint. Through out my ups and downs, I would paint.
In my designs for this project i would like to create a view of Houston from my perspective, paying homage to the city that helped me grow into the artist that I am today. I would like to use the unique styles and techniques mentioned previously, blended with a Houston influence. Not only is this a great opportunity as an artist but this would also be a huge honor to be able to give back to the city that has given me so much.
Maya Imani Watson
To hear my father tell it, I was drawing on the walls as a child. I have always loved creating things. I believe in the value of the artistic process. I have seen first hand how it can change lives. It continues to shape mine. I can remember my father sitting in his office while in transition between projects. He would clean his office and get things in order. Then he would read his bible. He may cross reference something with the Koran and he would most definitely be listening to John Coltrane. He told me there may be days when all there was to do was make my art and listen to some good music. As this year takes shape I find myself getting things in order and preparing for the blessings to come.

Mathieu’s purpose is to manipulate art to give voice to the oppressed in this ever evolving generation.
Jesse de Leon
Jesse de Leon was born and raised in Houston, Texas. His interest in art began as soon as he could pick up a pencil. In grade school is really where his love for art became a passion. He was trusted and encourged by his academic teachers to share his talent with his school. He would be asked to start making banners for their graduations and banquets. While working at a design firm, his interest in creating murals and faux finishes was born. He has since painted murals, canvases, and faux finishes for designers, businesses, and individuals across the country. As well as murals, Jesse has been commissioned to paint original works of art. His passion to inspire a new generation has led him to work for an imporverished school in Haiti. He travels there every year to teach students and bring hope in the murals he creates. The discipline and dedication required to work for himself has encouraged Jesse to expand beyond “creating to live” as contract artist and working more towards “living to create” as a fine artist. His work vary from impressionism to the abstract, and he finds that composition and use of materials have more influence in his creative process than does the subject.

Ignacio Sanchez (Nacho)
Ignacio E. Sanchez, better known as “”Nacho””, is a Mexican-American graffiti artist whose work is inspired by culture, color and patterns.
Nacho began to explore art as a teen through drawings and illustrations. He would later expand his scale through paintings utilizing various mediums such as acrylics /ink /pastels and oil bars then graffiti art with aerosol paint. Most recently, Nacho has also delved into carpentry by making frames for his works. He is currently taking university art courses to further develop his techniques and refine his processes. Ignacio has had the opportunity to exhibit his work in a number of galleries and exhibitions curated by Houston Individuals. He is currently involved in a artist collective called “INS”, this collective focuses on promoting street art and self expression through the arts and murals.
On his spare time, Nacho has taught youth art classes to Houston’s underserved neighborhoods. He also supports his wife’s photography business by building backdrop sets and assisting her as needed during photo shoots. Nacho currently resides in Houston’s historic Third Ward where is working with local businesses and nonprofits to bring color and life to the neighborhood.” My interest in art traces back to my childhood. I have always been a hands-on person, spending a lot of time taking things apart and reassembling them to create something new. I was given a sketchbook at the age of 9 and channeled that excitement of creating onto paper by drawing abstract art. I quickly became interested in lettering and would repeatedly write my name. This practice naturally led me to graffiti by the time I was in middle school. Over the years, I transferred my drawing and painting abilities onto large scaled walls. Once in college, I had the opportunity to teach art to youth in Houston’s historically destitute neighborhoods which coincidently challenged me to refine my techniques and evaluate my messaging. With time, my art and style has evolved to incorporate other techniques and mediums though the constant in my work has been my source of inspiration. All of my artwork is inspired by real life experiences specifically around the themes of change and movement. Most recently, I have been able to travel often and deeply through Mexico and South America. As a result, culture has served as a recent inspiration. I find the vibrant colors and energetic textures of Latin American cultures to be visually captivating and emotionally moving. At this time, I would like to thoughtfully execute a mini mural to include culture exploration with particular focus on movement, detail, texture and color.
Jonathan Muzacz (Austin, TX)
Living in Houston, we all need to escape the traffic and grind sometimes. The everyday commute can quickly become mundane, and the landscape uninspiring. Without any ocean or mountains nearby, and just a flat, suburban expanse as far as you can see, with strip malls scattered throughout, Houstonians yearn for something out of the ordinary.
The cabinet mini-murals project is such a great idea, using a necessary urban eyesore as a 3-dimensional canvas for painting. A new artistic vision that can transport people to another place, or change their mood in an instant. With just a little pop of color and imagination, a bland box can become a catalyst for positivity.
