‘You’ll never be rich’ is a survey and simultaneously a self-analysis, focusing on my perspective of money. My recent works lately have involved laser printed currency [Pesos]. I can’t recall how many times I have been told “Money can’t buy happiness”. Society has always told me two conflicting messages about money. The first, being that money is crucial. Then, the contrary, the one that associates the wealthy with hidden troubles. That diligently works to teach us not to be jealous of them, but to see the constraints that lay in the surplus. Sometimes, it gets to the point of feeling that being broke is almost a blessing. However I feel about money, people with money, or the pursuit of money, can we agree that money is essential? Money can’t buy happiness, but the lack of it may bring stress and anger. In conclusion, we know money is needed, but “How much?” is the question I pose for others to answer.

The unique diversity of this city inspired me to design this colorful pattern that represents a tapestry of cultures merging and overlapping to create other color combinations.

The blank space symbolises the ever-welcoming attitude toward new visitors, residents, and communities.

This piece embodies the feeling of summertime in Houston. The summer heat that brings along with it laughter, gatherings amongst friends and family, and the sounds of music radiating from cars that pass along the streets. Summers in Houston bring the feeling of warmth as the sun hugs your skin and our unique culture fills our hearts. We wanted to describe this feeling of electricity through colors, bold patterns and strong lines.

Black lines are used to change the frequency of the colors, creating a dynamic perception of the picture.
